Guesswork in your financials

About  BFS Bookkeeping

Hi, I’m Jayla.  I started my career with a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology because I've always believed that clear communication changes everything; in life and in business. That same passion led me to bookkeeping, where I help small business owners finally feel in control of their numbers. I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to juggle everything that comes with running a business, and I know how much of a relief it is when your finances are organized and no longer taking up space in your head. My goal is to make bookkeeping feel less scary, more manageable, and one less thing you have to worry about. So you can get back to doing what you love.

Clean books. Clear numbers. No surprises.

BFS Bookkeeping helps service-based businesses get their books back in order, keep them current, and understand the numbers that matter most.

Cleanup and Catch-up Bookkeeping

If your books are behind, messy, or inconsistent, I review the foundation first. I reconcile bank and credit card accounts, correct duplicated or miscoded revenue, clean up uncategorized transactions, reclassify transfers, separate personal and business expenses, and make sure everything is organized properly.

The goal is to stabilize the books, fix what is off, and give you a clean starting point you can trust.

Monthly Bookkeeping

Once the books are clean, I keep them organized month after month. That means consistent categorization, accurate reconciliations, and steady records so you are not scrambling at tax time or wondering if the numbers are right.

You get dependable support and financials that stay ready year round.

A Thoughtful, Structured Approach

I do not just enter transactions. I look at the foundation first, review what is really happening in the books, and identify reconciliation gaps, inconsistencies, and structural issues before moving forward.

Then we decide whether cleanup, catch-up, or monthly maintenance is the right next step. Once everything is solid, I keep it consistent so problems do not resurface.

The result is simple: clean books, clear financials, and no surprises.

Clear Reports That Help You Decide

I help you understand the numbers that actually matter so you can focus on growth instead of noise. You will not just get reports handed over without context; you will know what they mean and how they support better decisions for your business.

That clarity can make tax season feel calmer and day-to-day management feel much easier.

Running a business is already demanding—your bookkeeping shouldn’t make it harder. Yet many small business owners unknowingly make mistakes that can cost time, money, and peace of mind. 1. Mixing Personal and Business Finances Keeping everything in one account creates confusion and makes tax filing more complicated. Always maintain separate accounts. 2. Not Tracking Expenses Regularly Waiting until the end of the month (or worse, the year) can lead to missed deductions and inaccurate records. 3. Ignoring Receipts Receipts are essential for validating expenses. Without them, you risk losing deductions during tax time. 4. DIY Without Proper Knowledge Using tools without understanding basic bookkeeping principles can result in costly errors. 5. Skipping Monthly Reconciliation Failing to reconcile your accounts regularly can lead to discrepancies that are hard to fix later. Final Thought: Consistent, organized bookkeeping helps you make better financial decisions and keeps your business running smoothly.
